Regular internal inspection on September 2, 2026

DSC_0344

The first internal inspection took place in September 2026.

Of the three groups, the middle group B was the main force in early spring, and although the queen has been confirmed since the latter half of August and appears healthy, the group's density has decreased, the amount of nectar it collects has decreased, and the group's overall strength has declined.

This time, judging from the camera images, we will concentrate our resources on Group C, the leftmost group. We will add one more box to the current three-tiered hive, transfer resources from Groups B and A, place a queen excluder between the second and third tiers, collect honey frames mainly in the third tier, and aim for the last, or at least the next two, honey harvests with Group C as the main source.

4 stages

There are four or five giant hornets here, but the massive swarm of probably over 100 that attacked three or four years ago has subsided, and I'm worried that the hornet population, including giant hornets, might be decreasing, which makes me concerned about the survival of the bees as a whole.
